Evgeniy Balabanov was acknowledged expert in nuclear energy, known and respected by the many from the Bulgarian and international nuclear energy community. Shortly after his death, some of his Bulgarian and foreign colleagues came up with the idea to establish a foundation, in memory of his life and achievements.
On 19.11.2003 the foundation “Evgeniy Balabanov” has been established. Its main goals and tasks are to establish an annual scholarship dedicated to Evgeniy and aimed at placing it at the best under – graduate and post-graduate students, who will become specialists in the nuclear energy area, providing assistance to the activities related to improving the specialists qualification in the energy area etc.

Among the goals is to keep the relationships and cooperation with similar organizations in Balkan area and Europe, to take part in organization of workshops, seminars, discussions, research programs, and other relevant activities.

Evgeniy Balabanov’s name is synonymous with progressive thinking and advanced ideas with respect to Bulgarian nuclear branch development and Bulgarian economy as a whole and has been associated with teaching the new generation students - a herald of new ideas. Many students have prepared and defended their works for graduation under his supervision. Не has lectured on NPP safety problems not only in Bulgaria but abroad as well.
By establishing the foundation and scholarship in the name of Evgeniy Balabanov, his ideas and creative energy would be incarnated to remind us of the bright track he left as an excellent professional and as a noble personality.
