BulАtom supported the visit of students from Belene to Kozloduy NPP

On October 25, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the First Atomic and for the purpose of career guidance, students from the second high school stage of the “Dimcho Debelyanov” Secondary School in Belene visited the Kozloduy NPP.

The visit was supported by BulАtom following a request made by the students and their teacher Emilia Petrova for financial support for the realization of their great desire to visit and see the Kozloduy NPP.

The program of the students included a first visit to the Information Center, where the experts from the plant told them about the activities of the nuclear power plant, introduced them to the opportunities for career development, scholarship programs, and opportunities for summer internships and work at Kozloduy NPP.

The students had the opportunity to observe real demonstrations of working with fire-fighting equipment and measurements with the mobile laboratory for environmental monitoring.

The visit also included the Simulator facility housing the full scope simulator – a replica of the WWER-1000 reactor units main control rooms.. There, after the interesting talk by the duty engineer, he gave one of the students the opportunity to sit in the place of the control panel, make a decision in case of an “emergency” and make an emergency shutdown of the reactor.

The students from “Dimcho Debelyanov” Secondary School in Belene expressed their satisfaction with the visit to Kozloduy NPP, for them it was an exciting and educational experience, they learned a lot about nuclear energy and were convinced on the spot of the responsible role of the engineers in the nuclear power plant and their excellent training.

BulАtom annually supports visits of students to the Kozloduy NPP, this is part of the the association’s activities aimed at working with secondary schools in Bulgaria, because it is important for us to work with the younger generation and in particular for their awareness of the safe use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
