BulАtom for another year supported students from Elena town to visit Kozloduy NPP

On April 1, students from “Ivan Momchilov” Secondary School in the town of Elena, thanks to the financial support of BulАtom and the cooperation of Kozloduy NPP, had the opportunity to visit our nuclear power plant – a visit that has already become a tradition for this school.

According to the group teachers, Ms. Desislava Tsoncheva, Mr. Svetoslav Mihaylov and Mr. Rosen Peev, regarding the visit to the Kozloduy NPP, “and this year the interest from the students was extremely high, and the emotions were unforgettable“.

Students and teachers had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the activities at the Kozloduy NPP and to listen attentively lectures given by competent specialists at the Information Center. Great interest was aroused among them by the models in the Training Center of the plant and, above all, the opportunity for the most curious of them to perform an emergency shutdown of the reactor from the Simulator of the Control Station.

According to Ms. Desislava Tsoneva: “The visit to the Kozloduy NPP not only expanded the students’ knowledge in the field of natural sciences, but also aroused in a large part of them an interest in professions related to nuclear energy. We hope that this valuable tradition will continue in the future, providing more opportunities for inspiring encounters with science and practice“.

“Student visits to the Kozloduy NPP give them the opportunity to learn up close about the operation and safety of the plant and its importance for the Bulgarian economy” she added.

This is the reason why BulАtom continues to work with the younger generation and annually financially supports visits of students to the Kozloduy NPP, as part of the association’s activities aimed at working with secondary schools in Bulgaria and raising students’ awareness about the safe use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
