Annual Report оf BulAtom

The Bulgarian Atomic Forum Association – BulАtom, for the fifth consecutive year, publishes its annual “Report on the Dynamics of Changes in the Main Indicators of the Main Characteristics of the Electricity Sector in 2024”.

The Bulatom report was prepared by order of the Аssociation by the company “SELMEDA” Ltd., which in 2021 developed a specialized information tool BD-ES (the Base Data Electricity System), including a representative set of publicly available official data on the state and development of the electricity sector in Bulgaria. The collection of these data in one place allows them to be summarized and, with their accumulation over the various reporting periods, to outline trends and directions of development of electricity production in our country in the medium term.

The current 2025 edition reflects the changes that occurred in 2024 and the regulatory period 2024-2025, as well as the decisions for the regulatory period 2025-2026.

In Sections 2 and 3 of this Report assess and present the dynamics of changes in the main indicators and results of the work of the electricity sector in Bulgaria of main interest to the activities and objectives of BULATOM, taking into account their amendment, presented in the 2024 edition of the BD-ES.

The information presented in these sections is summarised in English in the “2024 Electricity Sector Fact Sheet”, a separate annex to this Рeport.

As the only non-governmental organization in Bulgaria expressing the position and interests of companies from the nuclear sector in Bulgaria, BulAtom strives with its activities to influence the formation of an objective public opinion on nuclear energy, as part of the balanced energy policy of the Republic of Bulgaria.

By bringing the Report to the attention of the Bulgarian public and sending it for information to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy in the 51st National Assembly, the Ministry of Energy, the NRA, BEH and ESO, Bulatom hopes to contribute to greater clarity on the direction in which the energy strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria should develop and, most importantly, the main place of nuclear energy in it.
