Visit of Students from Stara Zagora to Kozloduy NPP
On 11 May, with the financial support of Bulatom and the cooperation of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, 11th‑grade students from the Vocational High School of Electrical Engineering and Technology “G. S. Rakovski” – Stara Zagora, carried out an educational visit to the nuclear power plant. The initiative aimed to broaden their knowledge in the field of energy and support their professional orientation. The group included students from the specialties “Electric Power Engineering”, “Electrical Equipment of Production”, and “Mechatronics”.
As part of the programme, the students visited the Vocational High School of Nuclear Energy “Igor Kurchatov” in Kozloduy, where they explored the specialised training rooms and learned more about the educational environment and the practical focus of the offered programmes.
At the Information Centre of Kozloduy NPP, the students and their teachers received detailed information about the plant’s activities and attended presentations delivered by experienced specialists. The visit to the Training Centre attracted particular interest, where various models and visual demonstrations illustrated the main facilities and processes involved in the production of electricity.
One of the most memorable moments for the participants was the opportunity to see and even hold a nuclear fuel pellet – an experience that brought theoretical knowledge much closer to real‑world practice.
The visit provided the students with valuable insight into the working environment of one of Bulgaria’s most significant energy enterprises and helped them gain a clearer understanding of the professional opportunities in the nuclear sector.
Bulatom supports such student visits to Kozloduy NPP every year as part of its activities aimed at engaging with secondary schools across the country. This initiative follows the meeting held last year in Stara Zagora, which generated considerable interest among students. The event was organised by Bulatom with the participation of lecturers from Kozloduy NPP, “Kozloduy NPP – New Build”, and the Technical University of Sofia, Department of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering.
