Bulatom held a series of meetings with students in Sofia
On March 20 and 21, BulAtom organized and held meetings with students at the National Science and Mathematics High School “Acad. Lyubomir Chakalov” and the Sofia Mathematical High School “Paisiy Hilendarski”, Sofia.
Our lecturers Stanislav Georgiev from BulAtom, Stanimir Kalburov from Kozloduy NPP, Albena Georgieva from Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA), chief assistant Emil Kichev and Viktoria Mondeshka from the “Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering” Department of TU Sofia, took on the role of teachers.
In both mathematical high schools, they visited of a total of 8 classes from 10th to 12th grade. Within one school hour, our lecturers managed to synthetically introduce the students to the application and benefits of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, the scholarship programs, as well as the working conditions that Kozloduy NPP provides, as well as the training programs in the “Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering” Department and the opportunities for students to realize themselves upon completing their studies.
Despite the limited time our lecturers had, they managed to answer the questions posed by the students. All over 200 students received promotional gifts and brochures provided by Kozloduy NPP and BulAtom.
BulAtom will continue to organize such meetings with students because we believe that they are useful for the younger generation. We not only enrich their knowledge about nuclear energy and its applications, but also, with the help of our lecturers, we open up to them the opportunities that they could use for education and the prospects for their subsequent realization in a responsible and highly qualified sphere of the economic life of Bulgaria, such as nuclear energy.
BulAtom thanks NPMG “Acad. Lyubomir Chakalov” and SMG “Paisiy Hilendarski” Sofia for the cooperation and good organization of the meetings with students.
We would also like to thank Kozloduy NPP, NRA and the Technical University of Sofia, Department of “Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering” for the support they provide us in the implementation of these meetings.
