BulАtom Annual Report
For the sixth consecutive year, BulАtom has published its “Report on the Dynamics of Changes in the Main Indicators of the Main Characteristics of the Electricity Sector in 2025”.
The report was commissioned by the Association and prepared by SELMEDA Ltd., which developed the specialized information tool EPS-DB (Electric Power System Database) in 2021. The database includes a representative set of publicly available official data on the status and development of Bulgaria’s electricity sector.
Since its establishment, the EPS-DB has been updated annually. The current 2026 edition reflects the changes that occurred during 2025 and the regulatory period 2025-2026, as well as the regulatory decisions adopted for the 2026-2027 regulatory period.
Sections 2 and 3 of the report present an assessment and analysis of the dynamics of change in the key indicators and performance results of Bulgaria’s electricity sector, which are of primary relevance to BULATOM’s activities and objectives. The analysis is based on the data included in the 2026 edition of the EPS-DB.
The report also provides specific conclusions regarding the main trends characterizing the medium-term development of the electricity sector.
For the first time this year, a new functionality has been developed for visualizing EPS-DB data in the form of an interactive web dashboard designed for a wide range of users. Through a combination of infographics, charts, and tables, it presents in a clear and accessible manner the key indicators and trends in the development of the electricity sector.
All data included in the EPS-DB tables are based on publicly available sources and are presented together with active links to the respective primary sources. This allows users to refer directly to the original source of information, which is responsible for its accuracy and public disclosure.
The independent use of the information contained in the tables for monitoring and analyzing observed trends fulfills the primary objective of the project: to provide reliable baseline information for participation in discussions, expert forums, and the preparation of independent analyses. This approach ensures maximum representativeness and reliability not only with respect to absolute values, but also regarding trends in data development.
For more than 25 years, the Bulgarian Atomic Forum (BULATOM) has consistently advocated for an objective and expert-based approach in discussions concerning nuclear energy and its role in the energy policy of the Republic of Bulgaria.
In line with its mission, BulАtom has provided the present report to the Chair of the Energy Committee of the 51st National Assembly, the Minister of Energy, the Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA), the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH), and the Electricity System Operator (ESO).
BulAtom believes that the published information will serve as a valuable resource for institutions, the expert community, and interested citizens, and will contribute to the formation of informed positions regarding the future development of Bulgaria’s energy sector.
