BulAtom members become part of of Westinghouse’s core supplier chain for the AP1000

We congratulate our members “Atomenergoremont” AD, “Energoremont-Galabovo” AD, “KMS” AD, “Kranostroene Engineering” EOOD and “Bularmex-IK” AD on the occasion of the signing of a memorandum with Westinghouse on 12.04.2024 for joint participation in the construction of the upcoming new nuclear power units with AP1000® technology at the site of Kozloduy NPP in Northern Bulgaria and at other sites in the region.

We congratulate Westinghouse for continuing to expand the circle and scope by including more and more Bulgarian companies, with experience and capabilities to work in the nuclear industry, to implement the project for the construction of units 7 and 8 of the Kozloduy NPP. And also, that it gives them the opportunity to become part of Westinghouse’s global supply chain for all the projects to build new nuclear power that Westinghouse plans to implement in Europe.

We welcome this event because we believe that Bulgaria needs the construction and commissioning of new nuclear units. The broad political consensus driving the project gives us reason to believe that the seventh and eighth units of the Kozloduy NPP will be the first operational AP 1000 in Europe.

Last but not least, we use the opportunity to mention that the project for the construction of Units 7 and 8 of Kozloduy NPP with AP1000® technology will be the main topic during the third day of the traditional international conference “Bulgarian Nuclear Energy – National, Regional and World Energy Security”, organized by BulAtom, which will be held in the period 5-7 June 2024 in the Riviera complex, near the city of Varna, for more information and registration, see the conference page.
